2017 Ice-off monitoring of Lake Nipissing begins!

Yesterday we deployed the first of two buoys on Lake Nipissing for the 2017 ice-off season. This is the 4th year of high frequency monitoring of weather and water conditions, including conditions within Callander Bay.   And it was the first trip of the season for the Merry Weather II, our 24 ft boat we christened last season supporting longterm research on Lake Nipissing.  Thank you Canada Foundation of Innovation for funding!

Thanks to team members, Dan Walters, April James (Dept of Geography), Jeff Scott (Dept of Education), undergraduate student Matthew Marquis-Wedderburn (Dept of Math and Computer Science) and new hydrologic technician Rebbeca Snider.

Keep in touch for updates through the season!
