MESc Student opportunity in watershed and isotope hydrology
There is a MESc opportunity in watershed and isotope hydrology for September 2018 with Nipissing University’s Masters of Environmental Sciences program. Applicants should have a background in the sciences and/or engineering with a specific interest in the physical and biogeochemical connections between terrestrial and aquatic environments. The successful applicant will work on ongoing study of the influence of landscape characteristics, climate and landuse on streamflow generation and water cycling in Precambrian shield watersheds, specifically in the Muskoka and Sturgeon Falls-Lake Nipissing-French River basins. The successful applicant will be supported by a collaboration between Dr April James, Canada Research Chair Tier II in Watershed Analysis and Modeling and Dr. Huaxia Yao, Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dorset Environmental Science Centre. PhD Student opportunity in watershed and isotope hydrology
There is a PhD opportunity in watershed and isotope hydrology for September 2018 with Laurentian University’s PhD program in Boreal Ecology. Applicants should have a background in hydrology, earth sciences and/or engineering with a specific interest in hydrological processes. Interest in combining field and modeling approaches is an asset. The successful applicant will examine the influence of landscape characteristics, climate and landuse on streamflow generation and water cycling in Precambrian shield watersheds. The project will focus on the Muskoka and Sturgeon Falls-Lake Nipissing-French River basins and combine field-based water isotope monitoring with watershed modeling approaches. The successful applicant will be supported by a collaboration between Dr April James, Canada Research Chair Tier II in Watershed Analysis and Modeling (Associate Professor, Nipissing University and adjunct in the Department of Biology) and Dr. John Gunn, Canada Research Chair Tier I in Stressed Aquatic Systems. Deadline for PhD applications is 1 February 2018.
