19-Jun 2017. Researchers from Queen’s University and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s Dorset Environmental Science Centre conduct sediment sampling on Lake Nipissing. Dan Walters, (Geography – Nipissing U) handles the Merry Weather II research vessel for a tour around Lake Nipissing. Apparently weather conditions were thrilling!
9-June-2017. Krys Chutko from University of Saskatchewan, Department of Geography and Planning leads us on a day of water quality and sediment sampling in Callander Bay, Lake Nipissing.
13 June, 2017 – a second data buoy gets launched on lake Nipissing for the season, this one near the Manitou Islands.
A big shout-out and congratulations to Nancy England who, on May 29th defended her MESc thesis entitled “Hydrological Characterization of the Sturgeon River watershed in Northeastern Ontario: A Hydrometric and Water Isotope Analysis.” We recently had the chance to assemble old, current and even new lab members at a summer BBQ.
